CELEBRATING HISPANIC HERITAGE

OUR ROOTS ANCHOR US. OUR DREAMS PROPEL US

Preserving heritage while forging bold new pathsthat is the Hispanic spirit. Our mentors can be the difference between a child dropping out of school and being the first in their family to earn a high school diploma. They serve as a source of motivation and inspiration for our young people, boosting their confidence in their academic abilities and their belief in their potential to achieve higher than they may have ever thought possible.

be a mentor

If you’re ready to ignite potential and make a difference in a child’s life, take the first step by signing up and letting us know you’re interested in volunteering.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate our Hispanic volunteers, youth and staff who honor the past, empower the present, and inspire a diverse future and better world through mentorship.

"You can’t be what you can’t see. Having a mentor that looks like you or comes from the same background you do is going to unlock a whole world of possibilities for a child that they never knew existed."

- Angie Lopez, Big Sister of Citlally (Community-Based) and BBBSOC employee

“The only way I believe I can repay Brad is by continuing the trend, inspiring Chris to never set limits on himself. I think that both of us coming from underrepresented communities, it's definitely a challenge. I want him to have those higher dreams and reach that higher education."

- Eddy Reyes, Little Brother to Brad (Workplace Mentoring) and Big Brother to Chris (High School Bigs)

"My biggest message to other Latinos in our community about what it means to be part of Big Brothers Big Sisters: it has done much more for me than I could ever do for the organization. It’s taught me so much about running my own company, about being a leader—about being a diverse and inclusive leader—and just the importance that we serve as community leaders to the kids who are looking up to us."

- Patty Arvielo, BBBSOCIE Board Member
